Communities Against Cuts
Wednesday 30th September - 1pm - Parnell Square, Dublin

The story so far..

There has been a great response to the Wednesday 30th September protest with dozens of organisations support the campaign. These include ICTU, SIPTU, IMPACT, UNITE, Dublin Council of Trade Unions; the Community Sector Employers Forum, PLANET, the Community Platform, the Community Workers Co-Op, Pavee Point, CDP's, Community Employment, Citywide Drug Crisis Campaign, National Womens Council... to name but a few.

The whole sector is mobilising because of the previous savage budget cuts and the " bord snip nua" McCarthy report which proposes the elimination of 6,600 jobs in the community sector. The full extent of the cuts and their effect are listed in the attached statement from the Campaign Organising group.

Most important, the Community Sector Employer bodies have urged their members and other employers to facilitate maximum turnout for the protest by releasing their workers for the march. However, we still need to encourage as many people as possibly to come along on the day. So please speak to your colleagues and other projects in your area.

Press Release

One of the best ways to publicise the protest is using local media. At the end of this e-mail there is a press release that you can send to your local paper or radio station. A follow up call is always useful.
Please include information about your own project and how the cut backs may affect your project.

Join a Union

Thousands of people protesting is a vital element of the camping against cuts, but its only one element. We need to continue to put pressure on our politicians and build our union.
Strong union members give us more leverage at a national level to deliver results.
